Badlands and dinosaurs

We started off with a bit of a lazy morning at the hotel and had lunch and a stop to see even more dinosaurs! We had fun visiting with the dinosaurs and taking in the view of Rapid City.

After lunch we went to Badlands National Park. I don’t even have the words to describe the pure beauty of the Badlands. We saw many animals including big horned sheep, bison, prairie dogs, pronghorn.

However the very best part of the Badlands for me was having a picnic dinner while we watched the sunset. These pictures don’t even come close to doing it justice.

After the sun set completely we stayed to watch the night sky. It’s been a long long time since I’ve been out someplace with no light pollution that you can really see the stars and even the Milky Way Galaxy.

We had an interesting drive back to the hotel in the dark as there were many many many dear on and along the road and while driving Matt saw some sort of critter scavenging off something on the road- he was unable to identify the creature except to say it had 4 legs and would be as big as Trinity if she was on her hands and knees, a long tail and eyes that reflected red in the headlights- needless to say we were glad to get away from that.
