Hello Atlantic Ocean!

Ever since we started planning our trip i’ve been most excited to have the girls experience the ocean for the first time and well let me just say they weren’t as impressed as I thought they’d be. Not to say they didn’t think it was super cool, but as T summarized “you can only see what you can see, this is like Lake Erie”

Tuesday- Arrival Day

We were really impressed by the beauty of the park as soon as we arrived As soon we got settled at camp, we had a nice- back in site- relatively level and pretty spacious, we headed to the pier. We didn’t walk along the beach just yet- it was chilly and super windy as a storm was blowing in. We did however head out to get some dinner, it was MY turn to pick finally and we had mexican (if you know me at all you know this is not a surprise).

After dinner we went back to camp where our phones promptly notified us of some severe weather including a tornado warning near us- we spent the next few hours watching the weather and making a plan just incase, thankfully we weathered the weather just fine.

Wednesday

We started the day off  with a family walk on the beach and the girls got to get their feet in that salty ocean for the very first time. We were surprised to find so many jellyfish on the beach. We learned that these type of jelly fish , Cannonball Jelly fish are mostly non harmful to humans but we made sure to stay a safe distance away anyway.

After a little bit of playing in the sand we walked back to camp so Matt could work some. The girls and I did some more exploring while he worked.

Once Matt gone done working he came down to the beach to hang with the girls and i head back to camp to do some laundry. After all that was done we decided to explore the strip some and head out for dinner. The girls had been looking thru the free coupon book we picked up somewhere along the way and they (yes both of them) wanted to go to the Dinoland Cafe (I think Trinity was trying to bank some sister points). Surprisingly enough our food was actually really good and Lyndie just loved the atmosphere including the roaming dinosaur that terrified T.

Thursday

We hung at camp in the morning until Matt was done working and then we went to do some more exploring. We found ourselves at Broadway at the Beach, we had a great time exploring all the little shops. Mom even sprang 5 bucks for fish food.

Friday

Our last full day at the beach. We started off the day by making a run for donuts playing on the beach some more.

Followed by a dolphin tour and island excursion with Southern Shores. We had a great time, it was a bit weird to down under the boat to get off when they stopped at the island.  I really didn’t want one of those “big ocean boat” tours crammed with lots of people and i searched high and low to find this tour that uses Catamaran boats instead. If you are ever in the myrtle beach area and are looking for a dolphin tour this one was definitely worth the drive up to North Myrtle Beach.

Once we got back to land and got our land legs again we were off to get some Friendly’s ice cream. Yes you read that right, Friendly’s. The same Friendly’s i knew and loved when i was a kid and yes they still make the cone clown ice cream sundae but both of my girls opted for Monster ice cream sundaes instead.

Just when you thought that was enough fun for one day we had one more “must do” before left Myrtle beach and that was to play some putt-putt.  Lyndie really wanted to play the Dinosaur course and no one had an objection so we headed to Jurassic Golf where we learned that Trinity is a putt putt shark. She got multiple hole in ones on our course but ultimately at the end of the night Matt won the game. The kids had a great time and is already ready to go to Youngs Putt Putt when we get back home.

Saturday

Our last day at Myrtle Beach started with another Donut Run. We had one last walk on the boardwalk and one more scoop of monster cookie ice cream.

Now we start heading towards home. It will take us about 4 days to get there so stay tuned to see what adventures we get into in our final days of this trip.
