We went to Mammoth National Cave, it’s the longest cave in the world.  We took the historic tour of the cave. Our Guide took us down into the cave with another guide behind us. Once we got a little far into the cave he turned off all the lights and showed us a lantern like they used when they used the early tours so they could see. They used bacon grease to light their lanterns so they could see. People have gotten lost in the cave and they sent 20 people to try and find him in the cave. The longest time anyone was lost and found alive was 36 hours, they were able to find him because he was making noise by banging rocks together. After he told us the story he turned the lights back on and we went further into the cave and stopped again. He told us about the path we were going to go on and it was a long ride. My favorite part was called Fat Mans Misery. After we went thru that part we stopped again and sat down this time he told us another story about a different man, he was a tour guide and found lots of more passages in the cave and he wrote a map of the cave. He was a slave but he was given credit on the printed map for his work. To get back up again we went up a thousand stairs or at least thats what it felt like. At the end of the cave which is also the beginning where we started all of our feet started hurting a lot and they also had us walk on squishy pads to clean our shoes so we don’t carry any fungus with us. Now here are some pictures.
