Thanks for coming back! Today we went to see Mt.Rushmore and Crazy Horse, Matt has been to both before but the girls and I have not.

We really enjoyed the marvelous monument that is Mount Rushmore and learning about its history, including having some of Thomas Jefferson’s “Original recipe” ice cream. While at Mt.Rushmore the girls participated and earned their second Jr. Ranger badge , their first was at Gateway Arch over the summer. I really should make blog posts about those two trips- stay tuned!

Pro tip: pack a lunch! We were starving and only had some snacks in the car but we were so close to Crazy Horse that we just pushed on thru because a steak dinner is in store for our 10th wedding anniversary tonight!

Crazy Horse: I’m sad to say I didn’t get many pictures of this beautiful monument nor did we get spend as much time here as we would have liked but the littles (and honestly the bigs too) were starting to get Hangry! I hope if we come back in 20 years we will be able to see some real progress was made. If you aren’t familiar with Crazy Horse please check it out and consider a donation as it is all privately funded! Since Crazy Horse is a private Monument and not part of the National park service there was no Jr.Ranger Badge to earn here.

Steak Dinner…. We had plans to enjoy a nice steak dinner for our Anniversary tonight but the two “nice” steakhouses nearby were completely booked – I think it has to do with the Buffalo Roundup and Arts Festival that was happening at Custer State Park this weekend. We were able to get a table at Texas Roadhouse, our food was pretty good except it took FOREVER, although I’m sure it felt longer then it actually was since we were all really hangry by this point, good thing they provide those delicious rolls. Trinity doesn’t like TR rolls but Lyndie and I ate her share 😝.

Our Waitress was excellent and kept updating us about our food and the timing and kept apologizing even though it wasn’t her fault. The manager even stopped to apologize to us (even though we didn’t complain) and he paid for our meals and gave us a voucher to come back and try it again. We took our voucher and paid it forward to a couple waiting for a table as we walked out to our car since we wouldn’t be using it on this trip.
